Rosen, former acting AG under Trump, scheduled to appear before Jan. 6 committee

The acting attorney general during the final days of the Trump administration is scheduled to field questions from the Jan. 6 select committee on Wednesday, according to two sources familiar with the timing.

Jeff Rosen, who helmed the Justice Department during former President Donald Trump’s chaotic last weeks in office, is the second known former top DOJ official to have a scheduled interview with the panel. His deputy took questions from House investigators last week.

Rosen has detailed, firsthand knowledge of Trump’s attempt to dragoon DOJ into his effort to overturn the 2020 election. But it’s unclear how much new information the panel will be able to get from him: Rosen has testified publicly about the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol and took questions from the Senate Judiciary Committee for its separate probe into Trump’s efforts to influence DOJ.

That Senate committee released a report on its investigation last week. A spokesperson for the Jan. 6 panel declined to comment on the slated appearance.
