Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) has urged security officials in Washington to release the name of the officer who killed Ashli Babbitt. In an interview on Thursday, the California Republican questioned the uncertainty of Babbitt’s murder and called for transparency.

Nunes argued all recent shootings involving a police officer have caused public outrage, while the murder of Ashli Babbitt has been actively covered up by Democrat officials and media. Nunes pointed out video footage of Babbitt’s killing has yet to be released and the name of the perpetrator is still unknown, which he said was unacceptable.

“We don’t need the executive branch or the Department of Justice to give us our own video tapes. We are a separate branch of government,” he asserted. “What is going on here is a massive coverup by Pelosi and Democrats.”

Nunes added there is 14,000 hours of footage from Capitol protests that the public must see.

“It’s really a two-tiered system of justice that we have been seeing a continual trend in by the Department of Justice over the last few years,” he explained. “Republicans seem to get the book thrown at them and on other cases nothing happens.”

Nunes went on to say Babbitt’s family is taking the matter to court, but the prospects of that litigation remain unclear under the partisan justice system favoring Democrats.
