Second Amendment advocates warned executive action taken by Joe Biden will accidentally make millions of gun owners into felons. During his appearance Thursday, Biden described his gun initiatives, including heavy regulation on AR-15 style pistols.

The difference between an AR rifle and a pistol is a “pistol brace” that enables the weapon to be stabilized while firing it. Gun critics said the brace is a “loophole,” which allows a rifle to be regulated as a pistol.

“A stabilizing brace essentially makes that pistol a hell of a lot more accurate, and a mini rifle,” Biden claimed. “As a result, it’s more lethal, effectively turning it into a short-barreled rifle.”

An estimated 3.4 million AR pistols have been sold since the “Assault Weapons Ban” expired in 2004. In late 2020, ATF withdrew a proposal to classify weapons with pistol braces as short-barreled rifles after congressional pushback.
