Joe Biden is expected to announce a new task force dedicated to reunifying migrant families separated at the border.

The White House said Biden will sign immigration executive orders next Tuesday, which include the task force. The signing was rescheduled due to a delay in a Senate confirmation vote for Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

Biden plans to reverse the Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” policy, which was meant to stop human trafficking and deter more illegal immigration. Now, its one of the many immigration policies on the chopping block in the Biden-era.

“There’s no question that we recognize this is going to be incredibly challenging, that there’ll be a lot of work to be done.”  Psaki stated. “That is why this will be a priority. Not only a priority for the president, but will be a priority for Secretary Mayorkas, but I will leave it to him and to others at the Department of Homeland Security to outline and preview for you the path forward.”

Psaki also suggested First Lady Jill Biden will play a central role in reuniting migrant families.
