The governor of Florida is pushing back against critics who have asserted his vaccine roll-out plan is politically biased. On Wednesday, Ron DeSantis refuted claims he prioritized vaccine distribution to areas with wealthy GOP donors.
The Republican governor said the state was prioritizing seniors and “saw a need” in Manatee County, which has a high concentration of elderly residents.
“Let us know if you want us to send to Sarasota next time, or Charlotte, or Pasco, or wherever — let us know,” he stated. “We’re happy to do it, but I think most people, if we have an opportunity to bring vaccines and do it efficiently, I think that they’re going to want it.”

DeSantis went on to add, 3,000 residents now have the option to be vaccinated with additional vaccine doses still waiting to be approved.
