CNN has officially fired Chris Cuomo from the network. CNN confirmed Cuomo had been terminated effective immediately on Saturday.

The former TV host was suspended earlier this week after an investigation revealed his role in his embattled brother’s defense. Cuomo said this isn’t how he wanted his time at CNN to end, but added he’s already told people why and how he helped his ousted brother, Andrew Cuomo, in the midst of his sexual misconduct scandal.

Meanwhile, a Justice Department’s investigation shed some light on new accusations against former New York Gov. Cuomo (D).

The New York Times reported on Friday, investigators were seeking to determine whether Cuomo’s office engaged in a “pattern and practice of discrimination and retaliation.” According to a letter sent to state officials in August, the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division reportedly said it opened an inquiry into reports of sexual harassment and retaliation in the Governor’s Office.

The investigation comes amid similar allegations recently leveled against Chris Cuomo. The allegations against the younger Cuomo reportedly came from a former “junior colleague” at a previous news network.

Debra Katz, the accuser’s lawyer, said her client came forward “because she was disgusted by Chris Cuomo’s on-air statements in response to the allegations made against his brother, Governor Andrew Cuomo.”
