Democrat Rep. Karen Bass (Calif.) claimed Democrats didn’t question election results as Republicans did. In an interview on Tuesday, before polls closed in the historic California recall election, the Democrat said Republicans only questioned results when they lost legitimate elections.

“So I believe that what is behind it is the fact that the Republican Party is using this as a strategy,” she stated. “You don’t hear Democrats raising big questions about the integrity of elections and mind you, the only time Republicans are raising questions about the of elections is when they lose.”

The state’s recently victorious Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom said something similar a few days before. When asked about fraud claims by GOP candidate Larry Elder, Newsom said it was all tied into the so-called big lie.

“It’s just an extension of the big lie and the steal, stop the steal. I mean, it’s just a remarkable thing,” he claimed. “We’re 4 days out and the election hasn’t even happened and they’re all feigning election fraud and I think it’s important to highlight that.”

Both Newsom and Bass have both expressed support for Georgia Democrat activist Stacey Abrams, which Abrams has reciprocated. Abrams ran for governor against Republican Gov. Brian Kemp (Ga.) in 2018. She lost the election by over 55,000 votes, but never truly conceded the loss three years later by claiming fraud stole the seat she rightfully won.

“I acknowledge that former Secretary of State Brian Kemp will be certified as the victor in the 2018 gubernatorial election, but to watch an elected official who claims to represent the people of this state, baldly pin his hopes for election on the suppression of the people’s democratic right to vote has been truly appalling,” she expressed. “So, to be clear, this is not a speech of concession.”

Bass, who has said only Republicans cried foul when losing legitimate elections, backed Abrams up in her claims to the Georgia governors mansion.

“But the power of our voice is clear,” she asserted. “We will hear the power tonight, the woman who I believe was elected as the Governor of Georgia, when she delivers her inspirational message, Stacey Abrams.”

Abrams was an early surrogate endorsing Newsom when the recall campaign started. Unlike Abrams, Elder did concede after the results came in and showed a victory for Newsom.
