Joe Biden’s Commerce Department secretary actually praised President Trump’s tariffs on China. During a press briefing on Wednesday, Gina Raimondo admitted American jobs are being saved on part of the former administration’s actions.

The secretary credited their tariffs on Chinese-made aluminum and steel as well as hitting Chinese products to challenge their unfair trade practices. Raimondo pointed out that the metal industry is especially benefiting.

“With respect to tariffs, there is a place for tariffs you know, the 232 tariffs on steel and aluminum have, in fact, helped save American jobs in the steel and aluminum industries,” she stated. “So what do we do with tariffs? We have to level the playing field.”

The Commerce Department chief added, China has proven they will do whatever it takes to tip the economy in their favor.
